My Overall Project

     My project had its ups and its downs.  The thing that I liked the most about it was just learning about sinkholes.  Learning about it was fun because sinkholes are so interesting and they are so unique.  The hard part of making my mitigation is that they can happen at ant time or any moment.  I am now an expert at sinkholes and I know pretty much everything about them.  This 10 weeks of investing my time into sinkholes has been a blast.  The thing that I found really cool was seeing my peers projects and how they mitigated there disaster.  This has been a lot of fun and I hope I can do this again!

     The disaster that I picked was sinkholes.  They are so fascinating, but people don't really think about them because they are really rare, but believe me you don't want to experience one.  This disasters are vicious.  I will be telling you all about them

What conditions does my natural disaster form under

     This will occur when there is too much water in the ground.  When you see some sinkholes in peoples backyards that is because of the over pumping of water.  Also the water would have to sit there to get the soil really moist and weak and then the ground just collapses.

How my disaster forms

     My disaster occurs when the land surface above collapses or sinks into the cavities or when surface material is carried downward into the voids.  That happens in response to when the limestone dissolves, pores and cracks are enlarged and carry even more acidic water.

Mitigation

     Mitigation for a disaster is when you try to limit the affects that it has on everything.  A lot of scientists do this because they want to save money and save people.  Some scientists came up with some of the best mitigation in the world.  That is what I am trying to do.

   Current Mitigation

     A lot of scientist already made some mitigation for my natural disaster.  Like reducing potential contamination or threats to groundwater, and eliminating safety hazards at sinkhole entries. I am trying to make one unlike these.
